Dating back to 1767 The Blue Ball Inn is the oldest pub in the beautiful village of Grantchester, recently updated and renovated by its new owners it retains its charm and slight quirkiness, with the interior included on the UK Pub  Heritage  List.

Described by The Sunday Times as “near perfect” ,The Blue Ball is superbly positioned overlooking the famous Grantchester Meadows . It is just 1.5 miles from the historic city centre, with views over the meadows to the college rooftops. A 10 minute cab ride from the railway station, a wonderful walk across the meadows from the city centre, or  a simple bike ride along the bike path, the No 18 bus also stops right outside the pub !

Offering a sun trap beer garden during the summer, and log fires during the winter ,the bar rooms provide a warm welcome, and  traditional pub games - you can try your hand at Ring The Bull, the oldest pub game in the country.

All of the food is sourced locally and cooked fresh each day, ales are from East Anglian brewers such as Southwold and Woodefordes, and there is a wide selection of wines and other drinks available.

Breakfast is served in the main bar  (or in the garden during the summer), with free range eggs, bacon and sausages from our local butcher and  fresh bread baked just across the meadows at Newnham bakery. There is a selection of fruits, cereals, cheese and cold meats also available.

Upstairs the guest accommodation consists of 2 large double rooms , each with  a king size bed and walk -in showers. the rooms were completely renovated and refurnished in early 2017.

Each room has Egyptian cotton sheets, towelling robes,TV, iron/ironing board,coffee/tea facilities, arm chair and desk. The Meadow Room has wonderful views across Grantchester Meadow towards the River Cam, the Garden Room looks out over the garden and over fields at the back.
