Wysing Arts Centre is one of Europe's leading research and development centres for the visual arts.  We offer pioneering programmes from our working campus, providing alternative environments and structures for artistic production, learning and knowledge exchange.

Our innovative series of talks, events, exhibitions, artistic retreats and residencies offer a rich range of opportunities to open up the process of artistic creation and interrogate how ideas are explored and developed.

Artists, contributors and audiences come to Wysing to test new ways of thinking and push the boundaries of what is possible. What results is often ground breaking work made by some of the most interesting emerging international artists, which goes on to be shown both at Wysing and at other nationally and internationally significant venues.

In 2010 Wysing's reputation as a national leader in the development of artistic and curatorial practice was acknowledged through the invitation to join Plus Tate, the prestigious national network of arts organisations.  Wysing also has strong formal partnerships in place with organisations such as the Royal College of Art, the Royal Society for Arts Manufacture and Commerce, the British Council, the Contemporary Art Society, Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge University and Turning Point, through which we develop and distribute our groundbreaking programme.

Wysing was established in 1989 and completed a major capital redevelopment in 2008, with its new studio building subsequently winning an RIBA award.  Our remarkable 11 acre rural campus near Cambridge, UK, comprises award-winning artists' studios, residential accommodation in a 17th century farmhouse, education and new media facilities, a gallery, outdoor sculptures and artist project spaces, offering a unique environment for art to be developed and presented before being shown at significant venues around the world.  Our spaces are available to hire, with further information available on our website.

Wysing is a registered charity, and we fundraise for our entire programme of activity.  We are one of Arts Council England's National Portfolio organisations, and alongside this, we receive support from major trusts and foundations including The Paul Hamlyn Foundation.

We are continually looking for other sources of income through which to support our dynamic programme, and we have a trading arm, Wysing Arts Contemporary, through which we curate selling exhibitions of work by regionally based artists.  We manage several collective groups of art collectors and are keen for other individuals and businesses to join this scheme.  We also offer a scheme for patrons, supporters and members through which we invite you to support our groundbreaking work.

Opening Times
